December, 2009:
With 4 more days till the Grand Opening,,
Our Help Center is growing.
If you have been to the Ahwooga help center today, I’m sure you noticed that is starting to shape up. Lemorris was able to put in around 10 videos he completed and start formatting the pages. After all the videos are in, he will start to insert the text lessons a long with screen shots.
The short audio intro’s were done by another team member Sean. Sean is the voice of our about ahwooga video ad the co-star of the password video.
More to come very soon.
How car and truck parts made me tired.
A little over a year ago the only car parts or accessories I really cared about was anything related to VWs as that’s what I drive and what my core job was related to.
Over that time as Ahwoga has come to life and my daily tasks became focused on things like getting the auctions to work a certain way or making sure that all the auto stuff listed in the classifieds were as they should be my focus began to shift.
The wealth of cars, car parts, trucks, truck parts, bikes, tools, etc. that can be found on Ahwooga will be pretty impressive and I was thinking about that very thing when Joe showed me the 54 Packard ambulance/paddy wagon. (The one in the videos) It was then that I started losing sleep. “Can we bag it?” If we can what will it be like? “Can we paint it?” How many colors are their?…..The automotive art side of me took over. Midnight…2 am….thinking…well it just got worse.
A couple of days ago I was made aware of another project purchase. I haven’t thought up a name yet, I’m sure I’ll come up with one at 4 am some night as this….this is worth losing sleep over.

I know right?!!
Well…details to come soon. In the meantime know that my lack of sleep will be because I’ll be drawing up plans for this beast.
Goodnite

New Online Automotive Marketplace With Swap Meet Style Rules.
My fondest memories as a kid were when I would travel to swap meets with my dad. My dad would hold up an automotive part and ask how much, the seller would shout out a price and my dad either bought the item or set it down and moved to the next spot.
“Swap meets were the place to be 30 years ago when I started selling car parts. With so few swap meets left, I decided to start an online swap meet just for automotive parts” says Joe Chirco, co-owner of the new Ahwooga.com.
The simplicity of those swap meet rules has never left me. “I have sold car parts on all of the major online marketplaces successfully over the last 10 years, but, for me, I got tired of the constant changes and increased fees. My staff and I experienced all the same challenges as other sellers have had. “
Joe shares a great story, “I was discussing a problem I was having with one of the marketplace’s level one customer service reps, and she told me that if I was unhappy, I should start my own marketplace and then I could charge my sellers whatever I wanted. So that’s exactly what I’ve done.”
The rules on ahwooga.com will mirror those of a simpler time. Ahwooga members will have the freedom to promote their items and share with potential buyers their terms, including payment methods they will accept. We also want to promote buyer and seller communication; sometimes a purchase needs more than a couple of e-mails. There is a point where a phone call can really help out both the buyer and seller. I still can’t believe sites that allow major purchases to happen without communication. This would prevent scammers from hiding behind their computers. I also believe larger ticket item would be purchased with more confidence due to this open communication.
