March, 2010:

We are approaching 200 sales through the Ahwooga system

Here at Ahwooga HQ we can only track sales that are made through the system and we are very happy that we are approaching 200 sales in such a short amount of time. Yesterday, XtremeHids sent me a note that his customer who purchased a light set from him did the whole transaction over his blackberry phone. My geek status went through the roof and I spent some time perfecting my moon walking abilities.  It was very important during the design of the site that it was smart phone compatible.
While I’m tying about this, our 89 day old site has 17,000 listings and growing. I am like a kid in a candy store thinking about where it will be when another 3 months goes by.
I can’t thank the fine sellers and buyers we have visited and participated on the site.

Ahwooga.com at GoodGuys Spring Nationals

Team Ahwooga spent last Sunday at the GoodGuys Spring Nationals in Scottsdale.

We set up camp in the swapmeet (which is like home away from home for us) and we just handed out our shop towel business cards and our Ahwooga.com key chains and in the process made fools of ourselves….which really doesn’t bother us.  :)

Big time shout out to Alex and Carol of AmericanCarz.  They are Ahwooga sellers and it was great to meet them.

Enjoy the vid, we had a blast.

We are launching phase 2 of our marketing plan this week

At the end of last week, we finalized our contract with AutoGuide.com Forum Network to become a Premium Vendor across their entire network of 118 forum boards. Here are some stats from their site.

Registered members 3,009,797 Monthly visitors 11,195,127 Monthly page views 95,899,582

This gives us a tremendous way to not only promote traffic to the site through banner ads across all forums, but a unique way to promote vendors and products directly to customers interested in the specific vehicle type.  We will have three members of our staff updating  these forums on a regular basis to keep things current.
The whole process will take through the end of this week to completely engage with all of the forums.
I will keep you posted.

To see a list of all of their forums go to http://www.autoguide.com/forums.html

I was reviewing the Fees for selling cars on other sites

Let me start this by stating we fully believe in multi channel sales efforts. With that in mind, here is our cost structure for listing a vehicle.
Non-Member sellers – $1.00 for a 30 day listing.
Member Level sellers – $0.00 for a 30 day listing as long as they don’t exceed the number of listings.
To get rotating front page exposure – $5.00 For upgrade prices - Link
So the most you will pay to list a car is $6.00.
If you have a car listed on another site, you can compliment your online marketing with a listing here to increase your success of selling it for a very low expense.

If you are a dealer with 150 cars on your lot, it would cost you $50.00 prior to any voluntary upgrades to list your entire inventory to a global market. Just a thought.

With the price increases that are going into effect on other sites very soon, plan on seeing more cars listed on Ahwooga.com. Dealers interested in listing with us, please send me an e-mail to don@ahwooga.com

Here is some very good reading about Pay Pal

These articles are from Scott Wingo’s blog and I really enjoy following his articles. This is a two part article about changes happening within Pay Pal and Scotts concerns. Please read both articles prior to passing judgement. At the end of the second article, a VP at Pay Pal explains their stand.

Below are two articles that are from Scott Wingo’s CEO of Channel Advisor, I really enjoy following his articles. This is a two part article about changes happening within Pay Pal and Scott’s concerns. Please read both articles prior to passing judgement. At the end of the second article, a VP at Pay Pal explains their stand.

What I took away from these articles is, no one service should be totally relied on and we all have choices.

I personally don’t see too much difference with Pay Pal decision vs. what all the major credit card merchant services have been doing for high risk vendor for years. At Ahwooga.com, we support offering the method of payment that fits your business the best, and for most vendors out their, that consists of what is easiest for the consumer of our products.
